What Is Sugar Body Scrub Used For?

Sugar scrubs are great for exfoliating the skin. They help keep it healthy by lifting off dead skin cells, removing excess oil, and stimulating circulation.

Glycolic acid is naturally found in sugar. It helps to cleanse the skin and remove dead skin cells. Glycolic acid is also a humectant and won’t strip your skin of any of its natural oils.

Sugar Body Scrubs: What Types Can You Use?

When making sugar scrubs at home, there are three types of sugar that you can choose from. Pure cane sugar is my preference, followed by brown sugar. Refined cane sugar works well for me, but I recommend that you try other types to find the best one for your skin.

Brown sugar has the lowest abrasive, making it excellent for facial scrubs and sensitive skin. Brown sugar can be used as scrub up to four times per week since it is the most gentle.

Pure Cane Sugar (unrefined white) is suitable for all skin types. It also contains essential nutrients that nourish the skin. It can be used up to 3 times per week.

Turbinado Sugar (raw) is naturally the most coarse due to its large, coarse granules. It makes a great scrub. This sugar is the least processed and contains the essential minerals. You can use body scrubs made from raw sugar up to two times per week.

My first exfoliating body scrubs were made with extra virgin olive oil. I have since switched to sweet almond and jojoba oils. You can experiment with different oils and mix and match to find the best one for you. This section includes affiliate links.

Apricot oil is a rich, non-greasy emollient that can be used to soothe and prevent dry skin. This oil is best suited to mature, sensitive, and dry skin types.

Avocado Oil is thick in texture but soothing and leaves no greasy residue. Avocado oil is excellent for mature skin because it supports skin elasticity and is nutrient-rich.

Coconut Oil is moisturizing and conditioning. It also has antiviral, anti-bacterial, and anti-bacterial qualities.

Unrefined coconut oil is best. Fractionated Coconut Oil is also available, which is non-greasy.

Hazelnut oil has a pleasant scent and is pale amber. It is similar to almond oil and can be substituted for it. Because of its astringent properties, this oil is excellent for oily skin. It is also quick to absorb, making it a great base oil for oily skins.

Hemp seed oil is regenerative and conditioning. It can be used to moisturize dry and damaged skin. It is anti-inflammatory and reduces skin aging. It penetrates quickly into the skin. It is sometimes described as a dry oil. You should use it within 2 to 4 weeks of opening the container.

Jojoba oil has anti-inflammatory as well as anti-bacterial properties. It is non-greasy and odorless. It penetrates quickly. It is a great moisturizing conditioner that can nourish all skin types.

Olive oil penetrates deep into the skin, making it great for dry skin. Olive oil’s “humectant” property means that it attracts moisture to your skin. This is why it is so potent. It can also soothe dry, itchy skin.

Sesame Oil is rich in vitamins and minerals. It is recommended for use in eczema and skin softening.

Sweet Almond Oil is high in vitamins E, K and helps skin regenerate and retain its elasticity. It also acts as a natural UV-blocker and promotes circulation. It is suitable for all skin types and absorbs quickly.

Walnut oil has moisturizing, anti-aging, regenerative, and toning qualities.
