Reasons Why Your Treadmill Belt Might Be Slipping
It’s essential to understand the reasons behind your treadmill belt problem before you can fix it. These are the top reasons your treadmill belt could be slipping:
Drive Belt May Be Loose
The motor is connected to the drive belt by the drive belt. The front roller may start to speed up or slow down depending on how to lose the drive belt becomes. This can cause the treadmill belt to slippage, posing a danger to the user. You will need to replace or tighten the drive belt to fix this problem.
Walking Belt May Be Too Loose

How To Tighten Treadmill Belt
Your treadmill belt may not be moving correctly if it is too tight. If the belt is not moving correctly, lift it from the middle. Follow these steps if that is the case.
1. Disconnect the Treadmill
Before starting, make sure that the treadmill has been entirely unplugged and turned off. This is essential to ensure your safety.
2. Find the Roller Bolts
Two roller bolts will be located at the rear of your treadmill, one on each side.
3. Lock the Bolts
To loosen the bolts, use your wrench by turning the bolts to the left quarter turn at a stretch. You could damage your belt if you don’t reduce the bolts in the correct order.
4. Check Out the Belt
Turn on the bolts after each quarter and check the belt once more. Continue until you are able to lift the belt and place your hand under it.

How to Loosen a Treadmill Belt
Your treadmill may start to jolt, or the belt begins to slip when you run. This could be an indication that it is too loose. If the belt extends beyond the middle, it is likely too loose. These are the steps you’ll need to take.
1. Disconnect the Treadmill
Ensure that everything is switched off and that all power sources are turned off.
2. The Roller Bolts
Look for the two roller bolts at the back of the treadmill.
3. Tighten the Treadmill Belt
You can tighten each bolt using your wrench by turning the right side of the wrench one-quarter turn at a time. Make sure you tighten both bolts. Turn the wrench one-quarter turn at a time, tightening the left bolt first and then the correct bolt. Continue tightening until the bolt feels tight.
4. Check out the Belt
The problem can be solved if the belt is tightened enough and lifts only 3-4 inches off the deck.
How to Align a Treadmill (Left or Right)
1. Disconnect the Treadmill
Disconnect the power source entirely and take out the cord.
2. Find the Direction
To see which direction it is moving, check the belt. This will help you determine which side to focus on.
3. Adjust the Roller Bolt
Two roller bolts are located at the back of your treadmill. One is on the left, the other on the right. Use your wrench to turn the left rear roller bolt. If the belt has moved to the left, use your wrench on the right-hand rear roller bolt. Continue tightening until the belt is back in the middle.
4. Take a look at the treadmill.
To make sure everything is working correctly, plug it back in.
Adjust Treadmill Belt Alignment
The walking belt must always be centered against the treadmill frame. There are two possible causes for misalignment: the way you use the treadmill or the uneven floor.
It is essential to adjust the two adjustment screws on your treadmill if it isn’t aligned correctly.
1. To start the walking belt, press “START“, then increase the speed to 5 km/h.
2. To determine the direction the belt is inclined to go, stand behind the treadmill.
3. If the strap moves to one side, turn the left screw to adjust it a quarter turn to the right. The right screw will turn a quarter anticlockwise.
4. If the ribbon moves to one side, turn the left adjusting wrench a quarter turn anticlockwise, and the right adjusting screw quarter turns clockwise.
5. For approximately 1 minute, monitor the belt’s path—repeat steps 3,4 and 5.
Tread Belt Tension Adjustment
Adjust the belt tension on the treadmill to hold the belt in place.
1. To launch the treadmill, press “START” and then adjust the speed to 1 km/h.
2. You can release the strap by pressing it down on the steering wheel. You may find that the belt slips through a substantial break.
3. If your belt becomes loose, stop the treadmill and turn the screws clockwise a quarter of a turn. Repeat steps 2 through 3 if necessary.
Be careful not to overload your strap. When the strap stops sliding, stop. Replace the belt if it slips.
Incorrect Belt Tension
Treadmill problems are often caused by incorrect belt tension. The machine may be slow if the walking belt is too loose. The belt may be loose if you notice a slowing down in speed when you stand or walk on it.
It is easy to determine if the treadmill walking belt is too tight or loose. Lift the walking belt as far as possible from the center of the deck. It should be able to lift about three to four inches. It shouldn’t lift higher than that, as it is too loose. It shouldn’t be more than three inches.
Use an Allen wrench to tighten your treadmill belt. Each bolt should be turned a quarter turn to its right. You will be able to see how far the belt rises. You can increase the tension by giving each side a quarter turn until it lifts between three and four inches.
A treadmill walking belt should not be too tightened. A tight belt can cause damage to the motor, which could lead to more expensive repairs. You can loosen the belt by following the same procedure as tightening it but move the Allen wrench to your left in quarter turns for every bolt.
Crooked Belt Centering
A crooked treadmill belt can cause fraying and breakage. It’s normal for a walking belt to wear over time, but a crooked belt can break sooner.
You can fix a crooked walking lane just like you tighten or loosen the treadmill belt. Only one bolt can be changed instead of using an Allen wrench to loosen or tighten both bolts at the rear of the deck assembly.
Your Allen wrench can be used to turn the left bolt quarter turn to the left if your belt is running towards the rear roller. Turn on your treadmill to run at 1 mile per hour without walking. Turn off the treadmill if the walking belt is not straightening correctly. The Allen wrench can be used to make a quarter turn until the problem is resolved.
Instead of the belt moving to the left near the rear roller, you can use your Allen wrench to turn the bolt to the right using the same techniques as above.
How to Determine If Your Running Belt Is Too Loose
You can check by standing on the sides of your treadmill every day (frames) and the running machine’s speed at 1-2 km per hour.
While standing on the machine, walk around it and stop the running belt using your feet the handrails and pulling your body in the opposite direction. If the belt doesn’t stop, it means
It should be tightened before you use it. If the belt becomes too tight, it can be removed and You need to tighten it.
You can also check the distance between the running belt & the running board. If there is a gap, the belt should be tightened when the gap is between 5 and 6 millimeters. If the gap is less, you can tighten your belt.
This means that the running belt has been loosening.
How To Fix The Belt When It Is Not In The Center (bear left or right):
There is a gap between the frames and running belt, approximately 5-6 inches.
