Is Theragun Worth It? [2021]

The Theragun is a painless, wireless device used to break up the adhesions in the joints and soft tissues. With its medical-grade applicator, people can administer immediate, comfortable, and safe treatments to their whole body without making a trip to the chiropractor’s office. A Theragun can also aid in rehabilitation after surgery or following an accident to heal.

However, some are not convinced that it is worth the high price tag, as similar products are available for much less money. Many are unsure if is Theragun Worth It?.

About Therabody

About Therabody

Therabody, formerly Theragun for its signature tool, is the place to be if you are looking for a personal masseuse. The vibrations of their hand-held massage guns can massage tired, overworked muscles with ease.

They now offer four models: Pro Elite, Prime, and Mini. Each percussive massager includes a variety of head attachments that can be used to target different parts of the body.

The Prime is a simple, straightforward device. You can attach four attachments to it, which can deliver 30 pounds of force to any area.

It is silent and de-stresses your muscles. This tool can be used to treat a variety of problems if you’ve never tried personal massage guns before.

What Does Theragun Do to Muscles?

It can be excruciating to exercise. You’ll be able to tell if you’ve done a few at-home workouts during the lockdown. Even if you don’t have a desk chair, sitting at your desk all day can be painful. No matter how much we exercise, we all experience aches and pains.

However, physical therapists can be an excellent option for those who don’t have the budget. This is an unsustainable and expensive habit. The Theragun is a home-based recovery program that can help you.

Theragun was developed by Dr. Jason Wersland, a chiropractor who suffered deep tissue pain after a motorcycle accident. It uses percussive muscles therapy to relieve aches and pains and to increase blood flow.

This involves applying rapid bursts of pressure to the muscle tissue, whether your back or shoulders. The vibrations can help to release muscle knots, which are the leading cause of muscle aches or muscle pains.

Percussive massage can reach deeper layers than a foam roller or human hand, so it offers tons of benefits, including preventing delayed onset muscle soreness, better flexibility, and improved lymphatic flow. Turn on your device and gently massage the problem area.

You can focus your percussive massage treatment with the various attachments available on Theragun massage guns. To get the best results, you can mix and match the head attachments of percussive therapy massage guns.

The main selling points are that it helps with workout recovery by releasing muscle tension and relieving soreness, it accelerates warmup and cool-down periods for exercise, and muscle pain without any sort of medication or supplement.

The standard ball attachment is the best, which can be used after exercise and on all muscle tissue groups. The Wedge attachment is for the shoulder blades. Fork-shaped attachments work best for the neck or spine. The whole thing is very relaxing.

What Are the Different Types of Theragun?

Four percussive Theragun massage guns are available: the Pro, Elite, Prime, and the Mini. The Pro is the most costly, while Theragun Mini is the most portable and affordable. Below, we have listed their differences and shared our experiences with each.

Therabody Theragun Prime

Therabody Theragun Prime

  • Stroke Length: 16 mm

  • Number of different Attachments: 4

First, a carry case is essential. Maybe not. We are expressing our opinion, and you will probably agree with us. The Prime should come with a carry case at this Prime price.

The Theragun Prime is packaged in a sturdy box with all the other items inside. It contains the device, all the attachments, a soft case (but better than nothing, we suppose), and a dedicated charger.

The gun is true to Theragun’s originality. Although it is advertised as an entry-level massage gun, we like that it has the same shape as its higher-end sibling.

The familiar triangular shape is also present with an ergonomic multi-grip. It is also very compact, as we will see in another section.

It is made from plastic. It is made of plastic. Although we loved a rubberized handle, it may be best to go with a plastic one. It is matte black.

Mixing colors could have made it more interesting, as Ekrin did with their satin-finished Ekrin B37S. While color is not a significant deal, premium products should have a little bit of slickness. It is the best massage gun in 2021 was evaluated by users on Amazon.

These powerful massage guns are then cheaper, but they also have fewer features and power.

A Theragun Mini massage gun was my first attempt at percussive therapy.

This is their latest percussive therapy device and also their smallest.

It appealed to me because it was something I could take with me. If I had terrible back pain, I might even consider putting it in my golf bag.

When the box arrived, I was immediately surprised at its weight. Although the Therabody Mini percussion massage gun is smaller than its siblings, it is still quite bulky.

The packaging is beautiful and makes you feel like you are receiving a high-end product.

They kept the contents of the carrying case to the essentials.

  • Therabody Mini handheld massage gun
  • Padded Case
  • Power Cord
  • Instructions

The Mini percussive therapy massage gun feels well-made and has a good weight. You can feel that the Mini will be able to go to town on your muscles just by holding it.

Although it only weighs around 1.4 pounds, it feels much heavier than that.

The Mini Theragun percussion massager comes standard with the standard ball attachment. More expensive models can be fitted with other attachments.

The attachments are not necessary for what I use them for. This device will help you relieve muscle soreness, muscle recovery, or pain relief by vibration therapy.

Theragun Pro

Theragun Pro Massage Gun

  • Speed settings: 5 built-in speed settings (1750, 1900, 2100, 2200, 2400 percussions per minute) and app-controlled customizable speed range (any speed between 1750-2400 percussions per minute).
  • Amplitude: 16 millimeters
  • Attachment Compatibility: All 4th Generation attachments
  • Accessory Compatibility: PRO Wireless Charging Stand, Multi-Device Wireless Charger, World Travel Charger
  • Dimensions: 10 in x 7.1 in x 3 in (25.5 cm x 18.0 cm x 7.6 cm)
  • Weight: 2.9 lbs (1.3 kg)
  • Battery Life and Charge Time: 300 minutes total, 150 minutes per battery; 75 minutes
  • Battery Type: 2 16V External Lithium-ion Batteries
  • Rotating arm with ergonomic multi-grip

Theragun pro can become quite heavy over time, mainly if used in an area not as easily accessible.

The Theragun PRO deep tissue massage gun seems slightly heavier towards the front. This means that you will need to have some forearm strength to hold it.

Some users might find Theragun PRO percussive therapy massager a bit heavy.

My point of view was that there wasn’t any real benefit in Theragun Triangle’s ergonomically designed handle or the ability to move it into its four possible positions.

The triangle handle cannot be held on any of the three possible handles. It is too hot to hold the battery-holding one (the one with the logo) because it has heat vents.

Theragun Elite

Theragun Elite

How Often Should You Use Theragun?

Therabody suggests that you use your Theragun device at least twice a day, depending on the desired results. Your Theragun line should be used for no more than 15 seconds per muscle group and no more than 2 minutes each. The maximum time for a full-body workout should not exceed 15 minutes.

Can Theragun Cause Damage?

You shouldn’t, but you should not use your massage gun to treat pulled muscle groups, sprains, or other inflammation-related injuries.

These injuries can be excruciating, so you shouldn’t be tempted to use your Theragun device. Just in case you’re wondering, using a massage gun to treat an injury can make it more severe.
