The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5 Egcg Reviews
- Product Name: Caffeine 5% + Ecgc Depuffing Eye Serum
- Product Brand – the Ordinary
- Weight: 1 Oz.
This serum is all I love about The Ordinary cruelty-free brand. It’s affordable, and it targets skin issues.
Unfortunately, puffiness and hereditary dark circles cannot be easily fixed. I’ve been a long-time recipient of the phrase you look tired and have learned to accept that concealer (or fillers) is the only way to get rid of pesky dark circles.
However, I am always open to trying new things, so I tried The Ordinary’s Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG Eye Serum for a few weeks to see if any significant changes were made to my eyes.
Active Ingredients: Caffeine and EGCG
Complete Ingredients List:
Aqua (Water), Caffeine, Propanediol, Maltodextrin, Glycerin, Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside, Gallyl Glucoside, Hyaluronic Acid, Oxidized Glutathione, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Polypodium Vulgare Rhizome Extract, Cetraria Islandica Thallus Extract, Sphagnum Magellanicum Extract, Urea, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Xanthan gum, Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Propyl Gallate, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Ethoxydiglycol, Benzyl Alcohol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol.
Two key ingredients in this product reduce puffiness and dark circles. They are caffeine and EGCG. It uses a 5% caffeine solution that the brand describes as extremely strong to reduce eye puffiness.
Caffeine is a natural remedy for under-eye bags. It increases skin circulation and may even dissolve fat under your skin. This is why it’s often found in products designed to reduce cellulite. These anti-puffiness effects don’t last long.
EGCG, also known as epigallocatechin gallate glucoside, is the other key ingredient. It is made from green tea leaves and has anti-aging and soothing properties. It protects the skin from environmental stressors.
This Ordinary eye serum is also free from alcohol, silicones, and nuts. It is vegan and cruelty-free. The combination of EGCG with caffeine is refreshing for your eyes. It wakes them up and prepares them to face the day.
This serum is all light. The clear liquid is transparent with a slight tint and slightly more viscosity than water. It spreads quickly over the eyes and disappears almost immediately (although sometimes I can feel it on my skin).
It dries quickly enough that you can apply other products over it. This will ensure that your skincare routine doesn’t get interrupted.
It is cheaper than other products, and the 30ml lasts long. I only use one drop for each eye.
This eye serum will only work if you know the reason for your puffiness and dark circles. This eye serum might be able to reduce dark circles caused by pigmentation.
It might help minimize puffiness if your eyes are puffy from a poor night’s sleep or crying sessions. If your dark circles are caused by a combination of thin skin and shadows like mine, it might not make a huge difference.
The Ordinary also highlights some cases where you may not use this product. First, your dark circles are due to hollowness in your eye contour pigmentation or fat loss.
Although it looks like dark circles, this is a shadow. This product or any topical treatment will not help. Eye puffiness caused by fat deposits under the eyes is another reason this product and any other topical products won’t work.
You will need another product if you suffer from under-eye dryness. Although it didn’t make them any dryer, the serum didn’t make them any better.
To be successful with this product, you need to make sure your problem is fixed. This serum contains ingredients that can help.

How To Use Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
I apply two drops to the palm of my hand after cleansing, toning, and using face serums, and then gently massage a bubble around the eye contour.
I let this Ordinary eye treatment sink in for a minute or two before applying an eye cream (see below). I finish my skincare routine with a face moisturizer (not on the eye area) and sunscreen in the morning.
I’ve been using this eye serum in the morning and evening without any ill effects. The Ordinary recommends patch testing of this eye serum and all-new skincare products before using them on your face for the first time.
Eye Creams to Pair with The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
I like to use a vitamin C serum in the morning and a retinol serum in the evening on my face.
I use the same routine on my eyes: an ascorbic acid cream in the morning and a retinol eye cream at night. Olay makes excellent eye creams with ascorbic acid and retinol, so that’s usually what I reach for.
CeraVe and Neutrogena both make effective and reasonably priced eye creams. These eye creams complement The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG.
Vitamin C + Peptide 24 Brightening Eye Creams by Olay
Olay Vitamin C + Peptide 24 Brightening Eye Cream is a fragrance-free gel-cream eye cream formulated with 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, a stable ascorbic acid derivative, to brighten and smooth the under-eye area, fade hyperpigmentation, provide antioxidant benefits, and improve collagen production.
This eye cream also contains brightening and soothing niacinamide (vitamin B3), which increases collagen synthesis in the skin for firmer, more elastic skin. Niacinamide also boosts ceramide production, which helps maintain a healthy skin barrier.
Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, an amino-peptide from Olay, is also included in the eye cream to firm the skin. Panthenol soothes the skin, while glycerin moisturizes it.
Olay Regenerist Retinol 24-Hour Eye Cream is a nighttime eye cream that contains retinol.
The retinoid complex in Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Eye Cream helps smooth fine lines and wrinkles, brighten dark circles, firm the skin, and improve uneven skin tone.
The formula contains two retinoids: retinol and retinyl propionate, a retinol ester to smooth the skin. Niacinamide brightens, moisturizes, and exfoliates dead skin cells gently. Tocopheryl acetate, a type of vitamin E, has antioxidant properties.
The fragrance-free, silky-smooth eye cream is ideal for evening use because it targets multiple signs of aging while you sleep. Despite retinoids, this eye cream is gentle enough for the sensitive skin around the eyes.
Cerave Eye Repair Cream
Cerave Eye Repair Cream, like The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5 percent + EGCG, targets undereye puffiness and dark circles, so it’s a double whammy when combined.
CeraVe’s proprietary three essential ceramides moisturize, sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid) hydrates, and niacinamide brightens and strengthens the skin’s natural moisture barrier.
For added brightness, the eye cream contains a Marine & Botanical Complex. CeraVe’s MVE Delivery Technology delivers moisturizing ingredients continuously for long-lasting skin hydration.
This fragrance-free eye cream is non-greasy and lightweight, making it an ideal companion for The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5 percent + EGCG.
Ordinary Caffeine Solution Review: Conclusion
It is an excellent solution to provide additional antioxidant protection. The caffeine helps give you energy, and the egcg helps boost your metabolism. With the price being reasonable, this is an excellent alternative for people who want their eyes more beautiful without breaking the budget.
